Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the SplitRent service ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of a property management company or landlord, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these terms.

2. Description of Service

SplitRent provides an intelligent household expense management platform. Key features include:

  • AI-powered parsing of utility bills and expenses.
  • Automatic invoice generation for roommates ("Tenants").
  • Email forwarding for automated bill ingestion.
  • Payment tracking and property management dashboards.

3. Subscription and Payments

Fees: SplitRent charges a subscription fee of $5.00 USD per property per month. This fee grants access to all premium features for that specific property.

Billing: All payments are processed through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your provided payment method on a recurring monthly basis.

Usage Limits: Each property subscription includes an allowance of up to 50 bills parsed per month and up to 10 roommates per property.

4. AI Accuracy and "As-Is" Service

SplitRent uses Artificial Intelligence (LLMs) to extract data from bills. While we strive for high accuracy, AI parsing is not infallible.

User Verification Requirement:

Users (Clients) are responsible for reviewing and verifying all parsed bill data before generating or sending invoices to Tenants. SplitRent is not liable for financial discrepancies, overcharges, or undercharges resulting from incorrect AI data extraction.

5. Data and Bill Processing

Our Service processes bill documents (PDFs, images) entirely in-memory. We do not permanently store your original bill files. We only store the structured metadata (amounts, dates) extracted from those bills to facilitate invoicing. You retain ownership of your data.

6. Termination

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your settings. Upon cancellation, your property will remain active until the end of the current billing cycle. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in fraudulent activity.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SplitRent shall not be liable for any indirect, punitive, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data, arising from your use of the Service or any inaccuracies in the automated parsing functionality.
